Come early to beat the parking craziness and stay and stroll our streets in search of the unexpected right around the corner.

CHUA/DENZ Oaklandish gallery closing reception - starting at 8pm
This show of mixed media illustrations, painting, and design will intrigue you with its stew of urban ingenuity, political discourse, and inner galactic calligraphy. This show includes many affordable, collectible pieces, including "pop art" toasters by Denz and Nat Chua's Yellow Gun project. Show your support for Oaklandish and buy art! This show will be un-installed August 5th to make way for our Vaughn and Mark Bode show.

ILLUMINATED CORRIDOR - Second Street between Franklin and Washington, 8:55 and on *FREE*
The Illuminated Corridor is a collective of local artists, musicians and independent filmmakers convening to transform the facades of the Oakland Produce District into a nighttime collage of film and video projection, accompanied by unique soundtracks performed live by noted Bay Area music ensembles and performative projectionists: Cinepimps, EPIC(abridged), Oaklandish, Sound Shack, The Sprocket Ensemble and Whore.

All three events take place THIS SATURDAY and complement two additional cultural events taking place on Oakland's waterfront: The 4th Annual Edgetone Music Summit, which will feature large orchestras performing with cinema inside the Oakland Metro theater, and the Bayennale, an international art exhibition and exchange project for artists, galleries, curators and art organizations in the San Francisco Bay Area.
